Kay Rogers
We walk,
Forever.
Never stop.
Don't look down.
Can't lose your footing,
Or else you're lost.
The tightrope stretches
On
And on,
And on.
I slipped.
Fell.
Tumbling,
Falling still.
The Dark swallows me up.
I'm lost.
You and I,
We're like the stars.
We seem close to everyone else,
But really, we're worlds apart.
Snow clinging to trees,
Icicles glint in the sun.
Winter's way too cold.
Young hearts torn in two.
Bridges built, bridges broken.
Relationships suck.
I don't like haikus.
They're stupid Asian poems.
They don't even rhyme.
Unbroken, it stays.
Thick, dark, and suffocating.
The silence settles.
Marine Unicorns,
With their pointy facial horns.
They be all like, "Haaaaaaayy!"
We talked,
We laughed,
We had our inside jokes.
It was there,
We had something.
We talked some more,
We laughed some more,
Perfection.
Friendship.
Maybe we had
Something more,
Maybe not.
I went for it.
Took a chance,
Took the risk.
Tried for something more.
I Failed.
We talked again,
We laughed again,
Friendship,
Again.
It's like it never happened.
Maybe to him.
Whatever it was,
Whatever we had,
It's gone.
I want it back.
I need it,
That something.
