Excellent portrait from a painful period in America,
Louis;
you clothed this reader in his uniform,
as he made his choice to fight his northern brother,
and he, in turn, had to fight his southern one.
Much sadness, there, poet.

Into fantasies and dreams
much energy of mind will teem,
of powers good and evil …
and if not aware of what is what,
you’ll think there are gods and devils
pulling strings from realms un-seen.
The mind’s capacity for make-believe
the ‘man of cloth’ will use and you deceive,
and with ‘man in power’ himself in need
of others to manipulate, control, and bleed,
will ensure with promises and threats
of other kinds of re-births and of fiery deaths,
that you behave, think, and speak
in manners un-aware, to keep you weak.
Once this you see, the strings you cut,
symbolic’ly …and to your mind
and heart you turn …to find …
what it really means to be man kind.
You’ll have a chance to join the class
of people who together sing and dance
throughout this world, through all a season,
about a future free for heart and reason.

The poet has come to some self-realization;
the poem shows he has grown
into a human being greater
than before "she".
Loss is that.

Highly-evolved thumbs
tied a frilly bow in knots
too tightly on this poem;
my clumsy thumbs fumble
in attempt to unwrap the words,
yet I like the ribbon’s color,
and the shiny seasoned paper
I’ve torn for just a little peek.

for all to realize their hidden potentials,
and I want to thank you for what you write.

now lifted for her to breathe free
