1942 -
I am now retired but have studied astrology for 40 years and this study has given me much intuition and insight into human traits, needs and desires.

These insights coupled to my sense of humour, love of people and nature give me a treasure-trove of material that I express in my poems.

I hope you all enjoy them.

Kind Regards John

The weeping willow
           -  can't compete !
With tears
          -  abandoned lovers weep!

Waterfalls
         -  constantly flow;
From liquid eyes
         -  of reddish glow!

As shattered dreams
         -  now replete
Lie crushed and scattered at their feet.

She sits
- untouched -
Amidst the pyres
Of unconsummated male desires.

Her perfect lips
- cold and unkissed -
Disappoint anticipated bliss.

No lethal weapon will suffice.
All phallic symbols turned to ice.

Yet, all around;
Sad men abound.
Each condemned to spend his days,
Unfulfilled ....beneath her gaze !

What power there lies
Within a thought.
I'm sure that you can see.
Without a thought
Then we have nought.
I'm certain you'll agree.

We'll try it out.
Without a doubt.
The words your reading now!
Would not be here
Nor very clear
Without a thought - somehow!

Let's see if you
Without a thought.
Can make a cup of tea.
Or maybe - in your wisdom
Decide to disagree!

Without first thinking what to do
Nothing could get done.
I think you've got the message.
So I won't go on..........and on............and on........!!

How beautiful the setting sun,
Its ruddy ray
Still strives to light the dying day.
An air of quiet finality...
Of time slipping away from me....
Yet... for a while,
I feel at one
And 'Timeless' as the setting sun.

What is a woman ?
Although I'm a fan.
I can't understand them,
'Cos I'm just a man.

They're soft and so cuddly,
When in a good mood.
But just a day later,
Are sad and subdued.

They can be so fiery,
If you're out of luck.
The only defence,
Is to learn how to duck !

But what can us men do........????
When they act so demure.
With their charming sweet smiles,
Fascinating allure.

I'll never understand them,
Try as hard as I can.
For with all things considered,
I'm only a man.

A Poem, like a song, must sing!
The words its rhythmic notes;
That titivate our senses,
And, like great music, invokes;

Responses from the reader,
Creating pictures, in their mind;
And, so cleverly constructed;
As to inspire, and move mankind!

You are the smile
That lights the day;
Of all who chance
To pass your way.

You are the mornings
'Sparkling Dew'
That shines
In everything you do.

And darkest night
Cannot subdue.
The lovely person
That is 'You'.
