My first poem was written in 5th grade which was, much to my horror sometimes, over a decade ago. I've been writing poetry on and off since then. Most of the time, though, I surf the internet and write down quotes that speak to me or interest me in some way, giving credit to the original, of course. Some of my favorites are:
"A good library will never be too neat, or too dusty, because someone will always be in it, taking books off the shelves and staying up late reading them." -Lemony Snicket
"Monsters are real, and ghosts are real too. They live inside us, and sometimes they win." -Stephen King
"The only way to find true happiness is to risk being completely cut open." -Chuck Palahniuk
I could go on and on....and on....and on, but I'll stop there for now. Now go forth, read a poem, read a book, hell, read a street sign if you need to start small, just go forth and read.
And then come back and let me know your favorite quote. I'm always on the hunt for more!
